Calibration

Vectoflow GmbH has two in-house wind tunnels for
Carrying out calibrations. A third wind tunnel is to be built in the USA by the end of 2025.
The wide operating range of these wind tunnels allows us to
different types of probes and measuring instruments under different
flow conditions, from incompressible subsonic to
compressible transonic velocities.
High-speed wind tunnel:

The high-speed wind tunnel is an open-nozzle atmospheric wind tunnel powered by a 90 kW electric motor. By using
The Mach number at the nozzle outlet can be adjusted from 0,012 to 1,3 using interchangeable outlet nozzles. To achieve this, depending on the
Calibration requirements different nozzles with outlet diameters of 42, 54, 75 and 100 are used. The flow quality along the calibration zone is
by four sieves and a rectifier in the settling chamber as well as by nozzles with high contraction ratios. In the case of the 42 mm nozzle,
the contraction ratio is almost 200! The entire calibration process is automatic with remote control and monitoring, ensuring efficiency and accuracy throughout.

- Speed range: 4 m/s - 445 m/s (ISA)
- Mach number: 0,012 - 1,3
- Probe alignment: ± 160° yaw and ± 180° pitch angle
- Remote controlled truss system
- Accuracy of traverse positioning: 0,05°
- Accuracy of pressure measurement: 0,05% of full scale
- Calibration certificate is included.

If your application requires calibration of higher Mach numbers, you can
feel free to contact us, as we have a large network of super and

Hypersonic calibration facilities with which we work regularly.

Low-speed wind tunnel:

The low-speed wind tunnel is a newly designed calibration facility by Vectoflow GmbH that offers exceptional accuracy in airflow characteristics and probe positioning. Like the high-speed wind tunnel, it is an open-circuit wind tunnel that operates under atmospheric pressure.

This wind tunnel is specifically designed for calibration at low air speeds and can operate in a Mach number range of 0 to 0,3. The large diameter of the nozzle at the exit plane allows the calibration of large probe geometries without fear of blockage. In addition to a remote-controlled traverse system, this wind tunnel is equipped with a rig leveling system that ensures the highest accuracy in probe positioning.

  • Mach number: 0 - 1,3
  • Probe alignment: ± 160° yaw and ± 180° pitch angle
  • Remote controlled truss system
  • Rig leveling system

Thermal wind tunnel:

The variation of flow temperature with Mach number can be a problem in the calibration of flow sensors, especially if the temperature in the real application is influenced by other thermodynamic factors
and can vary independently of the Mach number.

For such applications, it is important to calibrate a probe for different temperatures while the Mach number remains constant and vice versa. Through the continuous development of calibration technology, Vectoflow GmbH has addressed this problem with the introduction of its thermal wind tunnel.

This wind tunnel will be able to keep the temperature of the air flow constant in the range of 283 to 323 Kelvin with an accuracy of 0,1 K. The isothermal conditions can be set at different Mach numbers from 0 to 0,95. The detailed planning phase is nearing completion, and construction and operation of the wind tunnel are planned for the end of 2025.
